Arturia Keystep

I was disappointed by the Keystep as a sequencer. You have no visual feedback and it is very clunky and uncomfortable. You need to choose the length of your sequence first, then punch it all in one note after the other. You have a "backspace" button, but if you made a mistake at the very beginning, you need to erase everything and start over. If you accidentally overflow your chosen sequence length, it wraps around and you overwrite the beginning.

You can sync the Keysteps and the Drumbrute Impacts internal clocks so they don't drift out of sync using a simple patch cable. You are supposed to be able to also sync the start/stop buttons, I never got that too work. Maybe if I had mucked around in their settings a bit longer...

The Keystep can function as a USB-MIDI interface. It can also send MIDI to the computer via USB, both from the keyboard and via the MIDI "In" socket. This device too has settings which require software to edit. SysEx Controls^↗ worked well for me.
